Tulips: “Patients can apply to the association in case they fail to obtain cancer drugs within the fortnight”

The Help Those With Cancer Association (Tulips) Chair Raziye Kocaismail called on cancer patients and relatives to apply to the association in case they fail to obtain cancer drugs within the fortnight.

In a statement addressing patients and relatives, Tulips Chair Kocaismail said: “We asked both the Health Ministry and the Medicines and Pharmacy Department about the reasons for the current drug shortage following the complaints lodged at the association. The great drug shortage problem appeared in our country due to the global medicine shortage, which also negatively hit Türkiye and caused a shortage of drugs in the country. In addition to this, TRNC was held exempted from the import of medicines as a result of the intensive efforts of the Health Ministry and the Medicines and Pharmacy Department. Yet there have been delays in concluding the procedure and placing orders for medicine.”

“The officials pledged to us that medicine shortage will be overcome within the following few weeks and medicines will arrive in the country in accordance to tender deadlines,” said Tulips chair, continued: “We will closely follow up on the developments regarding the shortage of medicines that are prerequisite of successful treatment of patients. We kindly ask patients to apply to Tulips in case of failure to obtain their cancer drugs within the next two weeks.”
