TRNC local elections are taking place today

Turkish Cypriots are voting in local elections today as polls opened by 8.00.
A total of 208 thousand 236 eligible voters are to elect 18 mayors, 220 city council members, 240 headmen and 960 council of elders in in 768 ballot boxes across the country.
The polls are to close by 18.00 as the restrictions will start for an hour that prohibits media from making any commentary about the election.
Supreme Election Board (YSK) will begin announcing the results by 19.00 starting from the mayoral vote counts.
According to Supreme Election Board, the general turnout was 50.16 per cent by 15.00.
