Erdoğan “A solution in Cyprus should be based on the realities in the field”

Türkiye President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan sent a congratulatory message to TC leader Ersin Tatar in line with the 20th July military operation events.

In his message, Türkiye President Erdoğan stated that reaching a fair, permanent and sustainable solution in Cyprus would only be possible within the framework based on the realities in the field. “With this understanding, I would like to express, once again full support to the solution model presented in Geneva last year, which primarily aims for the sovereign equality and equal international status of the Cyprus-Turkish people, and for an agreement to be reached with the cooperation of both sides of the island,” Erdoğan said.

He emphasized that Türkiye supports the proposals made by TC leader Tatar for cooperation between the two sides on the island that will be to the benefit of both peoples.

Erdogan also added that Türkiye will not remain a bystander for the Turkish Cypriot people to remain victims of the deadlock.
