The Association for Preventing Traffic Accidents draws attention to the dangers posed by electric scooters on the roads and demands that the regulation, which was prepared without foreseeing safety, be canceled before causing harm or death to people.
Mehmet Zeki Avcı, President of the Traffic Accidents Preventing Association said, "It is clear that safety is not foreseen and no evaluation is demanded while making and implementing this regulation. When the articles of the regulation are examined one by one, the dangers hidden in them show themselves," in his written statement.
-"Drivers at the age of 18 who have not received any traffic training will risk their own lives."
Pointing out that there are electric scooter drivers under the age of 18 who lack traffic education and endanger their own lives. Avcı noted that these people will put their lives and the lives of the drivers at risk by driving around, passing by the vehicles, and entering the roundabouts together with the vehicles.
Avcı also added: "Scooter speed should not be 30 km/h, It is limited to 25 km/h in Turkey and 15,5 km/h in England. The scooter user must necessarily have a driver's license. This is an indication that he knows the traffic rules. At 30 km/h, the scooter must have insurance that covers damage to a pedestrian, vehicle, and/or property."
