9 dead whales washed up on Cyprus coasts!

It was reported that 9 (Ziphius cavirostris) whales washed up on coasts across Cyprus island.
It was stated that 3 whales that washed up on the coast of Yeşilırmak and Gaziveren and 6 which washed up on the northern beaches of Paphos (Poli-Yalya-Argaka) were found dead.
Taşkent Nature Park Director Kemal Basat stated that a whale that was released back into the sea in Gemikonağı last night, had washed back ashore on both attempts.
Meanwhile, it was announced that the South Cyprus fisheries and maritime affairs research unit released 3 adult whales back into the sea with the help of citizens adding that the 4th whale had died. It has been reported that 6 whales have washed up dead on the shores of Paphos so far.
There is a possibility that some of the whales found dead could be the whales released to the sea yesterday.
Greek Cypriot Scientists and Fisheries Department officials believe that the earthquake in Türkiye and Syria may have caused the whales to lose their way and wash up onto the Cyprus coasts.
