Ertuğruloğlu “Greece and South Cyprus is following a policy of deception”

Foreign Minister Tahsin Ertuğruloğlu responded to statements of Greek Cypriot Foreign Minister Yoannis Kasulidis and Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias in line with their meeting in Athens on November 7th.
Ertuğruloğlu claimed that the two ministers openly expressed their initiatives against the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) and the Republic of Türkiye.
Minister Ertuğruloğlu claimed that Greece and the Greek Cypriot leadership “followed a policy of malicious intent and deception” and that violating their obligations arising from agreements was becoming a habit. Ertuğruloğlu noted that the TRNC and Türkiye are conducting initiatives to protect their legitimate rights and interests and conducting efforts to find diplomatic solutions to the problems.
Ertuğruloğlu continued his statement as follows:
“Dendias’ statement issued on the anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall that “the Lefkoşa wall is the last wall in the European capital, …” is misleading and unrealistic.
While there was a wall separating the German nation in Germany, there was a line protecting the Turkish Cypriot people in Lefkoşa. However today, there is a border separating two separate states and two separate capitals. A solution to be found in Cyprus will reflect the reality of two separate states with different capitals.
