President of the Republic of Türkiye Recep Tayyip Erdoğan sent a congratulatory message to President Ersin Tatar “I heartily congratulate all my Turkish Cypriot brothers and sisters on the occasion of the 39th anniversary of the establishment of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus,” he said.
Erdoğan said that his sincere desire and goal was for the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) to gain the place it deserves in the international arena and to become a state that can stand on its own feet politically, socially and economically. Erdoğan said that every development of the TRNC towards the struggle for sovereignty, law and freedom of the Turkish Cypriot people is a source of pride and happiness for the motherland Türkiye.
A just and sustainable solution to the Cyprus issue is only possible with the acceptance of sovereign equality and equal international status of the Turkish Cypriot people. “Although the United Nations Security Council has not taken a step in this direction, I have faith that the international community will approach our call for the recognition of the TRNC with common sense and fairness”, Erdoğan said.
Recalling the proposals submitted last July expressing the willingness to cooperate for a solution to the common problems of the island, Erdoğan said that these important factors will respond to the needs of the two states and peoples on the island and eventually facilitate a solution in Cyprus. In his statement, Erdoğan once again voiced his support to the proposals by the Turkish Cypriot side.
“The Republic of Türkiye will continue to stand by the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus against all kinds of obstacles and injustices. With these feelings and thoughts, on behalf of myself and my nation. In celebration of the 15th of November, the establishment of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, I wish the Turkish Cypriot people a peaceful, safe and prosperous future.” Erdoğan is cited as saying in his message.
