Electricity bill amnesty scheme is being launched!

An electricity bill amnesty scheme is being enforced to ease debts on accumulated electricity bills making it easier for consumers to pay back their arrears of electricity bills.

According to the electricity bill amnesty scheme, 80% will be deducted from overdue fees for payments made in advance and 50% for instalment payments.

Those with overdue electricity payments who want to benefit from the scheme will need to sign a contract to restructure their debts before November 28th at the Cyprus Turkish Electricity Authority (KIB-TEK).

It has been noted that consumers who have already benefited from any of the 2020-2021 amnesty schemes will not be entitled to benefit from the mentioned electricity bill amnesty scheme.

Those paying in advance will receive an 80% reduction and those paying by instalments will receive a 50% reduction on the late fee charge for overdue, accumulated or unpaid electricity bills.

Consumers will be up to date with their accumulated bills by paying the electricity bill amnesty of 20% of the late fee and the total amount of the electricity bill, it has been announced.

Otherwise, those wanting to benefit from the instalment payment scheme will receive a 50% amnesty on the late fee charged and will be able to pay the total amount of the electricity bill in instalments. This instalment method will only apply to those who make a 5% payment in advance for their late fee and the total amount of the electricity bill, it has been noted.

Instalments will be calculated according to the amount of debt. The maximum number of instalments will be 30 months.
