Education Minister Çavuşoğlu spoke of Adıyaman tragedy!

Minister of National Education Nazım Çavuşoğlu who went to the earthquake disaster zone in Adıyaman, Türkiye participated in a program of BRT and spoke of on-the-spot experiences.

Minister Çavuşoğlu expressed deep sadness on returning to the island with the loss of the children adding that the earthquake had caused severe trauma to both the Ministry of National Education and the country. Referring to the devastating scene in Adıyaman, Çavuşoğlu expressed the hope to return with the least loss, but said, “Unfortunately, we returned with many losses of life.”.

“Adıyaman was fallen apart, the governorship did not let politicians go to the disaster scene as they could not provide us with the necessary infrastructure, but I went to support the families, not as a minister. We tried to reach our children from the wreckage area with the help of teams from the civil defense, volunteers, and health professionals, but unfortunately, it wasn’t the way we were longing to reach them. The circumstances there were very difficult. Adiyaman had suffered an extraordinary earthquake. There was no shelter, no water, no toilet, no electricity,” Çavuşoğlu said. “We couldn’t bring our children back alive. Our children were there for a national duty, they were there to represent us,” the Minister of National Education said, adding that their utmost priority was to keep the names of the students who lost their lives in the earthquake alive.
