Ataoğlu “New yacht marinas will be built”

Deputy Prime Minister Fikri Ataoğlu announced that they were heading towards their future goals in the tourism sector.
“For the creation of alternative models in the tourism sector, new marines and golf courses are among our projects, as well as the implementation of two separate aerial tramways in Girne,” Ataoğlu said.
Speaking to the Anadolu Agency (AA) Ataoğlu referred to tourism projects and the ministry’s targets, adding that tourism figures have returned to the pre-pandemic period and that they were heading towards alternative new projects to host more tourists in the future.
Ataoğlu stated that in addition to continuing the project to expand the Girne Antique Marina, there were plans to launch a tender for the Gazimağusa Marina.
Ataoğlu also said that efforts to create an area for the construction of a marina where small yachts can dock in the Gaziveren region were among the projects.
Noting that they aim to host 200-300 yachts cruising the Mediterranean at the ports of North Cyprus with these projects, Ataoğlu pointed out that this will also contribute to recruitment and trade in the country.
Explaining that they are working on the construction of 4-5 golf courses to bring sports tourism to the country as an alternative project, Ataoğlu emphasized that they plan to build at least 3 golf courses in the Bafra region.
Furthermore, Ataoğlu stated that the project for the aerial tramway to be built in the Girne district is in its final stage at the Central Tender Commission and that they are working to establish the second aerial tramway line that will reach the region from Girne to Saint Hilarion Castle.
Ataoğlu also said that they expect airline companies to start Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) flights following the completion of the new terminal building and facility works at Ercan Airport.
