The French and German embassies in South Cyprus celebrated the 60th anniversary of the Elysée Treaty of France and Germany.
An event called “French-German Reconciliation: A beautiful story of friendship” was held to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Treaty of Elysée.
The event was moderated by Prof. Hubert Faustmann.
The German Ambassador Anke Schlimm and the Director of the French Institute and the French Charge d’affaires Eric Tosatti were present at the event, which took place at the Home for Cooperation.
During the event, Schlimm and Tosatti spoke of the important moments of the reconciliation that reconciled the two countries. They also shared their memories and experiences of French-German friendship.
While the Elysee Treaty laid the foundations of Franco-German friendship after the Second World War, it also paved the way for cooperation between the younger generations of the two countries.
